For a free weekly meal plan and grocery list, Grocerplan is an alternative to the MyFitnessPal meal planner; for plans built to calorie and macro targets, look at Eat This Much. MyFitnessPal's meal planner is part of Premium+, $24.99 a month or $99.99 a year, and its Premium page ($79.99 a year) doesn't mention one. MyFitnessPal is a strong food logger: its free account tracks the calories in what you eat, and Premium adds custom macro goals. Grocerplan is a planner, not a calorie logger: every recipe shows estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving, but it doesn't record what you eat or plan the week to a calorie target.

What Grocerplan does, and what it doesn't
Set your household's diets, allergens and dislikes once. Plan my week picks seven dinners from Grocerplan's recipes, sizes each one for the people you feed, and combines the ingredients into one grocery list sorted by aisle. Each recipe page shows estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving, and the Plan tab shows the planned days' average calories. It doesn't keep a food diary, scan barcodes or aim the week at a calorie target.
Seven dinners in one tap, swappable one by one
Estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving on every Grocerplan recipe
42 of 78 dinners with an estimated 30 g of protein or more per serving
A High-Protein plan style, under Tune options, that leans toward higher-protein dinners
One grocery list for the week: Shop on Instacart, or print it

Eat This Much vs MyFitnessPal's meal planner

Both make the plan for you; they differ in what is free and what they are built around. Eat This Much makes plans around your preferences, budget and schedule, and its site says a free account can set macro targets. Its free plan makes daily plans; weekly plans, the automatic grocery list and its grocery store integration need Premium, $5.00 a month on an annual plan. MyFitnessPal's meal planner comes with Premium+, $8.34 a month on its annual plan ($99.99 a year): weekly plans from 1,500+ recipes and 10 diet preferences, grocery lists that can sync with grocery apps in the U.S., and planned meals you can log to your food diary. If you already log everything in MyFitnessPal, Premium+ keeps planning and logging in one app. If plans built to your macros matter most, Eat This Much starts free and costs less on its annual plan.

If you want a free macro meal planner

Eat This Much comes closest: its site says a free account can set macro targets, and its free plan makes daily meal plans. MyFitnessPal's free account tracks what you eat, but custom macro goals need Premium and the meal planner needs Premium+. Grocerplan is free for a week of dinners and the grocery list, with estimated macros on every recipe, but it does not plan to a macro target. Its High-Protein plan style leans the week toward dinners with more protein per serving.

Using Grocerplan alongside MyFitnessPal

Grocerplan doesn't connect to MyFitnessPal. If you keep logging there, plan the week in Grocerplan and add each dinner to your diary yourself, using the estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat on its recipe page.

Honest limits

•
A planner, not a calorie logger: no food diary, no barcode scan, no daily totals of what you actually ate.
•
No calorie or macro targets. Plans follow your diets, allergens and dislikes; the High-Protein style leans toward higher-protein dinners but doesn't aim at a number.
•
Nutrition figures are estimates per serving. Recipes you import show nutrition only when the page you import from lists it.
•
The Plan tab's average calories add up one serving of each planned meal, so with seven dinners planned it counts dinners only.
•
A small catalog: 137 recipes, 78 of them dinners.
•
Keto, Low Carb, Paleo, Whole30 and Mediterranean have few recipes so far, so plans for them mix in other dinners.
•
A website, not an App Store or Google Play app. It works in your phone's browser.
•
Instacart is the only store handoff on the web today, and it works in the United States only. You can also print the list.
