The meal planning apps made for dietitians to use with clients are practice software: Nutrium calls itself all-in-one nutrition software for dietitians, That Clean Life offers nutrition planning for health professionals, and Practice Better is EHR and practice management software with charting. Grocerplan is not practice software; it is a free web planner that clients use on their own and a professional can recommend, with a diet and allergens for each person at home (10 diets plus classic, 9 allergens filtered), a SNAP budget mode, and one combined grocery list that opens on Instacart or prints. It has no clinical features, no client accounts or dashboard for you, and no calorie or macro targets; every Grocerplan recipe shows estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving.

What a client gets
A client signs up free and adds a profile for each person at home, with a diet, allergens and dislikes. Plan my week then picks seven dinners from Grocerplan's recipes, sized to the household, and adds up every ingredient into one aisle-sorted grocery list. They check it off in the store, print it, or tap Shop on Instacart, where they choose the store and check out.
A profile for each person at home: their diet (10 plus classic), allergens (9 filtered) and dislikes
Seven dinners sized to the household in one tap, swappable one by one
Estimated calories, protein, carbs and fat per serving on every Grocerplan recipe
A SNAP setting: type the monthly SNAP amount once, and Plan my week leans toward dinners that fit it
One grocery list for the week: Shop on Instacart, or print it for any store

When it is worth recommending

•
A client who needs help getting from your advice to a week of dinners and one shopping trip.
•
A household with mixed needs: each person gets their own diet, allergens and dislikes, and the week still ends in one grocery list.
•
A SNAP household planning toward a fixed monthly amount.
•
A client who cooks from their own recipes: they can import up to 10 recipe links at a time (30 a day) and add those recipes to a day of the plan by hand.

Seeing a client's week

Only when the client shares it. In the Plan tab's menu, Share this week, then Share Plan, makes a link to a read-only copy of that week's plan, which opens in a browser without an account. It is a snapshot: later changes to the plan don't appear on it. There is no dashboard for following clients over time.

For SNAP-Ed educators and SNAP households

In Profile, under SNAP / EBT Benefits, a client turns on "I use SNAP/EBT benefits" and types the household's monthly SNAP amount. Plan my week then leans toward dinners whose estimated cost fits a per-meal share of that amount, and the Plan tab shows the week's estimated cost next to a quarter of it. It leans but never refuses: every night still gets a dinner, so check the budget line and swap. 54 of Grocerplan's 78 dinners are estimated under $3 a serving. On Instacart, EBT SNAP pays for eligible items at participating stores, and a separate card covers fees and tips.

Honest limits

•
Not practice software: no charting, client records, notes or clinical features.
•
No client accounts or dashboard for you. Each household signs up on its own, and you see a week only if they share it.
•
No calorie or macro targets. Grocerplan does not plan to a number; it shows estimated nutrition per serving on each recipe.
•
Nutrition and costs are estimates from our recipe data, not lab values or store prices.
•
A small catalog: 137 recipes, 78 of them dinners. Keto, Low Carb, Paleo, Whole30 and Mediterranean have few recipes so far, so plans for them mix in other dinners and say so.
•
Allergen filtering relies on our own recipe tags, and imported recipes carry none. The plan's recipe picker hides them from anyone with allergens set; adding one from its own page names the allergens it isn't marked free of and asks to confirm.
•
A website, not an App Store or Google Play app. It works in a phone's browser.
•
Instacart is the only store handoff on the web today; the list also prints for any store.

Questions

Which meal planning app do dietitians use with clients?
The tools made for that are practice software. Nutrium calls itself all-in-one nutrition software for dietitians; That Clean Life offers nutrition planning for health professionals; Practice Better is EHR and practice management software with charting. Grocerplan is not practice software: it is a free planner a client uses at home, which you can recommend alongside your own tools.
Is Grocerplan made for dietitians?
No. It is a free planner for households. It has no charting, client records or dashboard for professionals, and it does not set calorie or macro targets. What a client gets is a profile for each person, seven dinners in one tap, estimated nutrition per serving and one grocery list.
Can I see my client's meal plan?
Only if they share it. In the Plan tab's menu, Share this week, then Share Plan, makes a link to a read-only copy of that week that opens without an account. The copy doesn't change when they edit the plan, and there is no dashboard for professionals.
Can each person in a household have their own diet and allergies?
Yes. Each person gets a profile with a diet (10 plus classic), allergens (9 filtered) and dislikes. The planner picks a dinner for each profile; when the picks match, the household shares one dinner, and everything goes on one grocery list.
Does it work for SNAP households?
Yes. Type the household's monthly SNAP amount once; Plan my week leans toward dinners that fit it, and the Plan tab shows the week's estimated cost next to a quarter of that amount. On Instacart, EBT SNAP pays for eligible items at participating stores; a separate card covers fees and tips.
Is it free for clients?
Yes. There is nothing to buy, and Grocerplan never takes payment; clients pay on Instacart when they check out, or print the list and shop anywhere. Grocerplan may earn a commission when you check out on Instacart.
